Well it happened. I show up and not to my surprise I was'nt on the list. After I explained the whole story the instructors shook their heads and agreed the admin has their heads up their a$$.
Anyway there are two instructors, one machinist and one welding. The welding instructor is half owner in the ironworks bus I had been contacting. He's 35 and started at the age of 15. My first impression is he's well versed in his trade and since we're the same age, we relate well with eachother. It's pretty much a one on one deal this semester. Two other students, one for machining and the other for machining/welding. I conveyed that I would also be interested in the maching aspect of the course as well. They said no problem they'll work that in as well.
We started out with basic safety and a little 'striking an arc' with the old stick. He showed the diff. between ac and dc and diff. rods. After laying a feew booger beads we took a break and went out to the laithes.
All in all I drove home with an ear to ear grin. Kept sayiny to myself in the shop, "this stuff is pretty damn cool". I feel it will be worth the hassle I went through and what I'll learn will last and be valued a lifetime. I'm also planing on taking the class next semester which will futher my machining skills.
Thanks to all that have helped, it's been a real commercial for Pepcid AC.
