Hi,
Long story short, when I purchased my Miller 210 I was told that it would plug into the Dryer outlet. I now discovery that the plugs are not even the same. I have decided to install a dedicated circuit. After calling around to electricians, I have been told that they are booked until late Jan/Feb. Does anyone know where I can find simple instructions (I'm far from an electrical engineer) to install the wiring and conduit from the location where I want the outlet in my garage, back to my panel? I will let a professional do the panel work. I just want to get everything else done so that I can "beg" the electrician to make the panel connection.

Thanks!

Not meaning this in a mean way, but if you can't figure this out, wait for the electrician to come.

There are factors, such as how long of a run, how high of an amperage you want the plug to have, what type of conduit you are allowed to use, etc. You could possibly phone an electrician and ask what supplies to get, then have them ready for when he/she comes.

I wired my own with the last blank slot on my service entrance breaker panel for 230v, 50 amp circuit.

I'm sure you can find a matching receptacle for your machine's plug at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

These are pretty good instructions:

its not that hard, BUT, you have to have some basic things right or else you could end up with a real problem. Grounding, wire size, amperage, are very critical to the job. The actual work involed in not that much. If you do decide to do it yourself, get a homeowners permit and be sure to get it inspected, they will tell you if its done right or not.

Thank you for the help! I pulled a permit this morning and have a friend (general contractor) that is going to help me with the technical stuff. The install will have to be in conduit due to the completely sheet rocked garage/workshop and living area above, no way to run it except in conduit on the "surface".
