Hi, this is my first post here... It isn't much to look at, but this is what I made in my "Welding for the Artist" class I'm taking--I wanted to casually learn how to weld.

I cut the M out with a plasma cutter and then stuck it back onto the cutout, offset. The weld for the M looks pretty ugly because I tried to do it with an Arc welder... The piece I welded onto the back at 90-degrees to hold the thing up looks MUCH nicer since I did it with a MIG welder. I sandblasted the whole thing and then polished the M to make it all nice and shiny.
Next time, I'm going to try and bring my camera to class to take some photos of the practice welds that I did... I would love input on them from more than just my teacher. I did some extra practice with the MIG and did an open corner weld that looked uuuugly, but felt very strong when it was finished, and I also welded a seam that actually looked pretty decent when finished.
