Hobart Handler 135 - wire feed problem

Hi all, I just pulled my old 135 out to see how much I remember. Turns out, not much. But before I can practice I've got to get the wire to stop feeding as soon as I turn on the power. I checked the leads to the trigger, and inside the cover and they seemed ok. Can I take the trigger apart? Or, what else might I check? This machine has had very little use, although it's 10 years old. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

danldo, unplug the trigger wires from the machine and then turn it on and see if the drive motor continues to run. if so then you have an internal problem if not then more than likely you have a short in the trigger wires. yes you can take the trigger apart. look for any kind of bad areas in the gun such as a flat spot or even a slight cut, the trigger wires could be shorting somewhere along the way.
