I ordered my 200DX from Oleg on Dec 31 and it arrived on January 11. Here's a report on my experience.
Despite my concerns after reading what has happened to some units during shipping, mine arrived in good overall condition. There were two problems on delivery:
1) It had a crack in the front panel bezel. (UPS dented that end of the box) I called Everlast service and they promised to ship out a replacement. It arrived 3 weeks later went right on and now my welder looks perfect. I took a look inside while I was replacing the bezel. While the internal assembly is fine, it woudln't hurt to add more tie points for the internal wiring. Chafing could occur if the unit is subjected to vibration. My unit sits in my garage so thats probably not a problem... Solder quality is good.
2) The argon regulator was venting through the relief valve. Again, I called everlast and they sent a replacement, no questions asked. Delivery took two weeks..
I'm new to Tig and have been practicing with this welder since I received it. It works well on both Aluminum and Steel. The arc is stable and well controlled. I like the controls. It works as advertised and has more than enough power for my needs. From what I've seen so far, the 200DX is a great value. The cost savings far outweigh the minor inconveniences.
Everlast service is OK and they backed their product with no questions. However, I wish they would send confirmations when the actually send out replacement parts. I emailed them several times before my parts came. These emails could have been avoided.
I'm not so impressed with the foot pedal. The basic design is ok, but it needs some improvement. I'm going to change out the flimsy 6mm stop bolt, and add a full width pin to support the upper part of the rack gear, the cantilevered pin just doesn't cut it. I'm also going to add an outboard bearing to the potentiometer. I'll post pics of the modifications when I'm done.
Thanks, Everlast for getting me into Aluminum welding without breaking the bank.
