Ha!! That sounds about right for "just got it".

We'll assume you've got it wired right and 230 volts are getting there, these things aren't self adjusting and do have quite the learning curve. Maybe you could move this up to the general questions section or the MIG/TIG/Stick section and get more response from the real experts here.

Refer back to your manual for adjustments and trouble shooting, a lot more practice and it'll start coming around. Watch yourself for consistant stick out, consistant travel speed, and smoothness of motion.

Have fun, good luck.

Wire feed is too slow.

Check to see that the polarity for ground clamp and welding gun are set up properly for flux core welding! There is two different methods for gas and flux welding! (Check your manual page A-4 figure A.4) You may also check to see that your electrical extension cord is wired correctly using the dryer drop as your power source. You should be using the L1 and L2 hot legs and the green wire ground and you should verify 230/240 volts at your plug end...(check page A-6 of your manual) If all is setup correctly you may just need to dial the wire speed in a bit better.

Before you take it back...
1) check that you are using gun positive, work negative polarity (for flux core)
2)this welder does not have a motor.

Gee so quick to turn your back on a good red machine to go blue...:nono: My guess is you have an electrical problem with your extension cord you have made from your dryer drop. Why don't you put in a dedicated circuit for your welder? There are so many variables you need to check out first. Did you check to make sure drive wheell is set correctly for wire type, are you using clean steel to weld on? Flux core welding is an art in itself, best results come from good clean steel with no rust.
