Plasma questions

I'm new to the forum I'm looking at a old Hypertherm max 80. I don't know much about it other than it's old and big. He is asking $350 for it. Sounds like a good price is there anything I should be looking for and can I get parts for it? Any help would be great.

Thats one of the very early Hypertherm high frequency start plasma systems. Most of the parts....are still available. It has to be 20 to 22 years old.....If it works....it is worth it, if It does not work it could be costly to fix if there was a bad board or bad chopper (current control) module.

Yes....The Max 80 uses the Max100 style torch. You can get part numbers from this link: https://www.hypertherm.com/library/files/Product%20Information/TB_MAX70,100.pdf

Or just go to the Hypertherm website under products, then torch and consumables, then discontinued systems.

One of the advantages of buying from Hypertherm is long term product support.
