I also found this site via Corvette Forum and it has been a great source for welding information. I'm working on restoring a 76 Stingray and needed to put in new floor pans and some pieces of the windshield frame. I was able to convince my wife that a small MIG welder would cost the same as having someone else do the welding on the car, plus we would then have the machine. I'm not sure whether she believed me or not, but she still bought me one anyway (Chicago Electric MIG-131). Our machine shop on campus has a welding expert, so I brought the machine into the shop and he showed me how to use it. I've been practicing ever since and discovered (by accident) last night that good wire makes all the difference in the world.
I'm blown away by the expertise people here have in welding. I'm glad to learn from their experience and will keep practicing and burnin' wire. Here's a shot of the car last summer:

It still needs lots of work, but I've had a great time learning about Corvettes and welding.
