Another question with my hypertherm powermax 1000. I don't have the manual yet, and due to network issues (my dying router), I am having issues downloading the manual. Is the filter that comes with the system sufficient? or do I need an additional filter on my air?
You should get another filter. The big thing with plasma is dry air. The cartridge type filters designed to be used with paint guns work great for this. They won't stop massive quantities of water like if you never drain your compressor and see a fog as soon as you use a blow gun, but they stop the small quantities that get past normal water separators and good service habits. A refrigerated dryer is another good option.
You can use it with out the extra filters, but consumable life will be shortened.

Thank you. I may pick up another filter tomorrow then and place it inline.
I think this is one several guys use.

I run mine on bottled air rather than a compressor since I don't use it all that much and I have easy access to all the bottled breathing air I want. HP breathing air has almost zero moisture so it's just about as dry as you can possibly get.
If you do a search on plasmas and filters here you may find a few other filters guys have recomended.
