I have the powertig and water cooler combo and I am wanting to change out the torch to on of my smaller weldcraft torches. all my other torches have the 3/8" male CGA fittings. the gas line and the water out are RH threads, & the water return is a LH thread. I have been a welder for along time and this is the way every torch i have ever used is setup. Im sure Everlast is just trying to do there own thing but they should definately stay more streamlined with these standard common connections that every other brand of machine uses and have used forever. Both of the fittings on the Everlast W300 water cooler are 5/8" male fittings and the gas line is a quick connect with a fitting I cant find anywhere. I want to use my other torches on this machine but I dont want to cut the ends off jut to make it work. So my question is "Has anyone else run into this same problem and if so how did you connect your torch to the water cooler and the machine without cutting the fittings off? and please dont tell me to go to the hrdware store and by an adapter, I have searched online, the welding supply store, everywhere, there is no adapter that goes from a 3/8" LH thread (and or RH) female CGA to a 1/2" RH inverted CGA (that I can find) or if there is please let me know. Im thinking about just buying the fittings that are on the miller coolmate water cooler an mounting them on this water cooler and same for the gas fittings (front and rear of the machine). But if there is such an adapter or another way of doing it please let me know. Thankyou

Madkaw,

If the compatibilty without using adapters is important to you, you might consider changing the fittings on the water cooler. I believe for your situation, that is probably going to be the simplest solution. I believe you brought that up in the Everlast site forum. I have thought more about it and I think you should consider changing out the fittings on the machine. The fitting design of the units and the hose connections of the unit should make it very easy to do this.

If people are giving their opions of the Pro's and even the Cons of this equipment then it should rather be noted and taken into account to improve upon. After reading some of your replys to the Cons of this particular tig welder you kinda come off a little (hotsy totsy) a little arrogant like it's a personel problem of the individual that has complants about fittings, hoses, etc., etc. It's very slight but discernable in your reply's.
I too am looking into a good all around tig welder for my shop, and just the last couple of days came across the power tig 250EX, and was really impressed with it, but after reading a couple of comments on here about the cons; fittings, hose's, etc., etc. It doesn't detour me, but realize that you get what you pay for.
It seems like a real good med. low-end tig welder and unless one wants to pay BIG $$$ for a big shop tig welder you are going to have to live with the low-end little parts, or re-work the welder (replace what you want on it to one's likings) customize it. That's typical in anything you purchase; Better value= some parts are going to be less than Top Quality, and High End= Top Quality parts; You get what you pay for.
So one just needs to ask themselves.....How much $$$ can one afford to get the best at that level.
