HOBART came out with a new product.
It is a portable wire feed welding machine that includes a rechargeable battery. Hobart TRECK180.
Not earthshaking, but can be useful to the right business.

But here is what really makes me mad.

There is a small bag provided that you can store the cables inside of.

It looks like a bag that you carry a laptop computer inside of, you know the ones all the kids have.

So they are describing the machine and what you get with this machine and they call the bag......are you ready for this........ A cable management bag!!!

Couldn't be a bag for cables or accessory bag. NO. A cable management bag!! Oh brother - the geek nerds are now in the welding arena loose!!!!

You need to understand the HoFart division of IndoChinaThugWorks.
First they hired a sqadron of Ghyno-Americans to make EEOC happy. The reality that none of the ghynos knew a damn thing about welding, let alone welding machines was not important.

The MBAs at ITW knew that cause their mismanagement manual said so. At ITW MBA stands for Mind Blown A$$wipe.

Then they encouraged the ghynos to determine employee vulnerability (credit rating and debt load). Policy says an employee in debt over his ears will perform better than an employee who doesn't owe money.

After determining who had to say Yes Maam to all requests ITW authorized the Ghyno-Americans to deemploy anyone who either knew what the hell they were doing, or didn't have to tow the company line.

This was accomplished, and matriculated people were brought in to fill the jobs formerly occupied by competent people. This has worked well for ITW over the last 10 years.

We all know matriculated people who write advertising copy are far more important than somebody who knows what in hell a welder is at a company that stuffs Chinese components into a cardboard box with an American Flag on it.

LOL a "cable management bag"....... now I sometimes qualify as a "geek-nerd", but I think that's ridiculous too! Then again unlike whoever decided it had to be called a cable management bag, I usually try not to write stupidly.

That's ok, the unit sounds like Hobart's answer to my GoWeld portable wirefeed. It doesn't have a "cable management bag" though. Darn. The seriously sturdy case it comes in has filled in for a step ladder or a seat in a pinch many times though.

My GoWeld didn't come with a battery either but 12 volt battereis are a dime a dozen. A 24 volt isn't that hard to get my hands on either, and at any rate, that's why we have our Miller - it can be used to power the GoWeld when cordless isn't necessary.

That sounds like the description of a dog that I saw on TV at the local pound. The reporter asked if the dog would be good with children. The response was "probably, but he does like to use his mouth as a discovery tool". I guess that's the politically coreect way of saying he bites.....:dizzy:.

So what if they call it a purse? Or simply a cable 'sack' ? Yeah, its too techie, but it makes the user feel so competent...so..manager like. Like a "real" weldor, just because they have a management bag. Just imagine if the ad reads:

Here is this new welding machine by Hobart. It makes better welds than anyone else. It comes with cables and a sack to put the cables in. Rare!! $599 firm! Paypal only, no local pickup. <--eBay description.

No! They have to make it stick in your head so when the money in your pocket starts to smolder and catch fire, you know what to get with it.

What are Ghyno-Americans?

Thanks, good run down too.

I called HOBART to let them know about that description of the TREK180 battery powered MIG welder.
The person that answered the phone thinks NORTHERN TOOLS made that phrase up.
I just felt lucky to get through to a real person at all.

Anyway I told the "product manager" thru the "voice mail box" so who knows.

I don't have a clue what the heck Old Fart is talking about in his original reply. Someone please translate that for me.

Does it really matter what they call the storage bag as long as it works? There have to be better things to complain about.

Check out my sign-on name...I take exception to Donald's comments about geek nerds.
