Hello all, I stumbled across this site looking for welding plans due to boredom and was facinated at the amount of people all talking about welding...
I am a plumber by trade (non welding) but have always had an interest in welding, mainly car bodies but want to move to bigger things hence looking for projects.

I live in the UK, which is becoming a 'disposable' culture, nothing is built to last anymore, and you have to look really hard to buy good tools and then pay a premium for them. Even simple household things like BBQ's are thin, flimsy and badly made. This is where 'build it yourself properly the first time' comes in...

I have two welders, a 150a turbo MIG and a 100a stick welder. I used to have an oxyaceylene rig, but it wasn't very good for car bodies, and regulations stated that I needed a permit to have the tanks, so they were sold on.

I am looking for a good pillar drill, a chop saw and perhaps if i'm lucky a pipe bender for the workshop to get things going properly...

Looking forward to learning from this site, and perhaps helping other people along the way...

In the UK I suppose anything meant to last less than a century is "disposable", right?

Sounds like you have a good start on the tools and a willingness to get your hands dirty...I hope we have what you are looking for. Good to have you.
