got aluminum

I have been running the 350P for a little more than a year. Before the 350P I was running the 185/spool gun. I have been doing nothing but aluminum for about 15 years now. Due to my work load I had to open up the crate on the 350P and start welding. The machine was easy to set up. I enjoyed that.

Just some curious questions for you guys that are also running this machine.

What situation would make you want to switch from pulse to mig? I have only run my on pulse since I had it.

Do yall adjust the arc length and arc control very much? I have played with the length a little. Mainly trying to reduce what little splatter I will get.

What about the timers, I left all of mine on default.

Do any of yall use the crater fill?

I know this is a lot of questions so any answers are appreciated. I love the way my machine welds, I just can't help but think I could be doing something better.

I never use the crater feature, though I have experimented with it a few times over the years. Never did get it adjusted so it worked how I liked it.

I rarely use mine for short circuit on steel. I have other machines and 75/25 gas to short arc with. I run 98/2 on the 350P and use it in pulse and true spray primarily, with steel. I use both pulse and non-pulsed spray with aluminum. I prefer regular short arc to pulse on the thinner stuff.

On the timers, I set the run-in speed low, usually 25%.
