I have a dialarc, about 10 years old and for some reason it will not run 6011 on DCEP. All it does is starts up, runs swell for about an inch then freezes, then starts itself back up for another inch the freezes and then starts again... does this until the rod is finally burned down. Irritating as hell, I mean try doing a root pass with that going on... makes you want to shoot something. Turn it on to AC and it works fine. Machine has no problem running other rods... gonna try 6010 and see if thats different because thats just about the only rod I havent run on that machine. I blew the inside of the machine out with the air gun, I cleaned the lead lugs, cleaned the ground clamp (its one of those brass style ones) What else could it be?

Does it run other rods, say 7018, fine on DCEP without stopping every inch? If it does, it's probly not a problem with the machine.

runs 7018 fine. It used to run 6011 great, this is a recent problem. I thought it may have been the rod so to check it I ran a few 6011s on my buddys tombstone lincoln on DCEP and it worked fine.

I'm no tech but I would guess the machine isn't putting out enough open circuit voltage for whatever reason to run the 60xx rods then if it's running the 7018's okay and the same 6011's are running fine on another machine.

Checked the machine, it was setup for 200v, so I checked the 220v outlet and it was putting out 230v (I think it was actually 250v if I remember right) so I set the machine to 230v, now it doesnt seem to have the juice to run anything, and on top of that it will throw the breaker on the panel in the shop. It has to be something in the machine. I was thinking it could be the overload breaker in the machine itself?
