Just talked to a guy that has a 600 that was used twice. Still has new spares and he has to sell for health reasons. He has it listed for 900.00 but said he would take less. What would be a good price to buy this at and are the older torches that bad. What are the big differences between the 600 and the new 45 ? I have a 100 amp TD 1 torch I can get an adapter kit for so it will fit this unit. any info would be a big help.I was just about to pull the trigger on a TD 52 and I saw this add. Thanks, Ken

If the 600 was only used twice...then it is definitely worth the $900. There is nothing wrong if the 600 has the original torch (worst thing you could do is to put a 1 Torch on it....no FineCut consumables, no shield technology, worse consumable life). The newer RT60 torch just brings some newer technology to the 600 that further increases cut capacity and quality over the original torch.
The difference between the 600 and the Powermax45? Completely new design power supply and torch. The 45 is lighter, higher duty cycle, has a quick attach torch, has a machine interface receptacle. The new 45 torch cuts thicker, faster, and with even longer consumable life as compared to the RT60 torch. The 45 was designed as a replacement for the popular 600 (there are over 55,000 Powermax600's in the field).
Either unit will have more cutting power (in killowatts) than the T-D 52. I would go for the 600.

If he has offered to sell it for less than his listed price this could be a great deal for you. You can always do a Google search to see what the 600''s are selling for. Several welding suppliers still sell new 600's for over $2.300.00. But before I would layout that much money I would wander over to sites such as weldersource and look at the new PowerMax 45 for only $1,510 with free shipping and no tax. I bought my 45 from them and they gave me a discount for being a disable Veteran and even threw in some extras.
Either way you go you can't go wrong with the Hypertherm. Hypertherm also has a great Internet site full of info such as manuals, training and tech support.

The old torches on the 600 and 380 are bigger at the shield and more difficult to see around than the new v-shaped torches. The smaller v-shaped torch may also fit into tighter areas. Other than that, the old torch design works just fine.

I went and looked at and tested the 600. After talking a while he parted with it for 650.00. It is pretty much new.It was one of the gold edition 600's.I am going to get pics up soon along with my other craigslist finds.

Very nice unit. I have had mine since 2006 and only added the wheel kit and cover. It was one of the best investments I made, as far as money vs happiness! I have used it many times on expanded metal and it saved a lot of time and sweat.
They should have parts for another ten years, so you are set.
