I know I've been slacking with posting my new projects. Here are a few that we have recently worked on.
A local city guy wanted me to cut down an old hydrant and glue a base to it. Damn that thing was heavy. So I cut it down, cnc plasma cut the base plate and mig welded it to the cast. No pre-heat or special treatment. I thought about brazing it, but it would have taken forever for how think the material was. While I was tacking the plate on with mig I realized that it stuck good enough for what it was and I mig welded it out. There were a bunch of cracks shooting though my welds, but they held fine. It will be on display at the city hall in Carlton Oregon.. Oh yeah, they guy told me another guy came around a few years ago and offered a few thousand dollars for it while it was in the ground because it was a limited production strictly for the NW. While he was telling me this, one of my guys was unloading it from the back of his truck with a forklift. He stomped on the brakes and it rolled off onto the ground. Fortunately no damage was done to it.
The other photo was of some simple rails I did.
