shopmaster 300 ground clamp

So as the title states i have a shopmaster 300. I'm looking to set it up for stick welding, on the front theirs two sets of output lugs one set for the mig and one set for the stick/tig. my question is can i just leave the work lead connected to the mig output stud and run a jumper over to the stick/tig output stud to use as a ground for stick or do i have to disconnect the work lead from the mig stud and put it on the stick stud?

That you will probably have to ask Miller. I have a late model Shopmaster 300 and I have four of the Tweco #2 quick disconnect lugs on it. 58568

You might run into a problem if you ever have to run straight polarity like on flux core.

I was just going to suggest doing that. I have those on my Bobcat too.

thanks for the advice. i was originally just planning on putting the QCs on but thought i would ask if this was possible.

stay with the QC and move your work lead. That way you won't cause a problem.

The reason for the 4 terminals is, they are your polarity switch.
If you tied both work terminals together You could not weld flux core wire and do positive stick with out moving your work lead any way. With a HF box, this welder can do TIG, MIG and stick. This eliminates a expensive polarity and process switch for this welder.
Most unit I have worked on use the QC terminal adapters.
