Well, I went with the 110v 135 plus. I know the consensus here is to go with the bigger machines, but i gotta tell you that i think this little machine is going to be great. Thanks to all of you that gave advice and helped me get into a new machine:waving: .
I got it the other day. The seller was very helpful and gave a decent deal on the Lincoln mig. He threw in a 25lb spool of .030 wire, filled a 40cf tank and gave me a 50% off deal on a auto dark helmet all for the same price of just the machine at other dealers:drinkup: .
I don't think i'll be under powered at all with the 135 if anyone is concerned about that(for the home hobbyist anyway). I get to hang out in a lot of gm's bodyshops and all the old pros there steered me to the Lincoln. about a 70/30 split for lincoln over the miller. I've seen them weld a car back togather that was torched in half, with the 135(frame and all). great for body work and medium steel brackets etc... I got the harris/lincoln torch kit as well, so if i need to fab up anything thicker, i think i can get about a 1/2" out of that.
For never using a mig machine, i've got to say that this is pretty easy. Set up was easy to follow in the directions and even easier if the sales guy is schoold in the brand and can help too. I had it put togather and layin beads in less than a 1/2hr. So far, i've made a cart for the new Lincoln. I'll get a pic of my first project soon. And for those of you debating on the "T" model(taped volts) as compared to the continious control Plus model, i went with the Plus and find myself fine tuning already. defenite advantage.
I'm gonna fab up some side steps for my Hummer next. this toy is pretty cool. thanks again for all ya'lls input and help.
