i'll post pics soon because i have to resize them all

but OH HAPPY DAY!!!!!:cool2:

I just got the letter...and the answer i was looking for..

last october i brought my 9' fisher minute mount plow to where i work just to leave it there 'cause i really have no room here...

but it was vulnerable to getting swiped..
(heck it only takes me 2 min or so to put it on the truck) and it wont take anyone with a ford any longer to steal it if they know what there doing...
and to replace it is 4800$ my cost (dad works at a fisher plow dealer)

well i came up with a "device" that enables you to "lock" the mounting pins in the same position as though its on the truck

therefore now you cant pull the pin out to line up the mounting holes....

its small
fits in the glove box when not needed
your lock your key...

well we made the prototypes
made the blueprints...
made a appointment with the patten lawers 2 months ago...
1200$ later...

its offical..WE'RE PAT PENDING!!!!

and the beauty of it is that its not just for fisher plows..we have the patten(pending) for any kind of pin locking device for ANY plow set up..
end of story

suck part is that we have to send all the welding out because we dont have a tig set up where i am now...:realmad:

but in the long run we're just gonna try to "sell" the patten to fisher or?

either and or i own the patten rights to any lock device for any plow:D

That's pretty neet that you were able to do it. Not often you can come up with something new and unique. Great work.

Zillionaire eh?? :)

Great work Zap!!!

Tell Mrs. Zap that we realy want to see those pics. The ones of the new device.

Selling the production rights is one idea, but have you considered going into production yourself? Yeah the start up costs hurt but you end up with even more to sell. Don't get me wrong I understand selling the patten too.

I guess there are pluses and minuses to every option. Never know till it plays out then hindsight reveals it all very clearly.

I guess you can sell the patent or sell the patent 'rights'. If you sell the rights you can sell them 'exclusive' (to one only) or 'non-exclusive'.

I sure dunno. I still be poe.

another thing about this deal...

if i had to make them myself takes about no time to do the parts to make 1000

where i work we'd just have the no brainers cut and sand and drill

these are really that simple...

its the welding part i'm not happy about:realmad:

but in all reality i'd just like to sell the idea...

mrs zap will help (if she can and i know she can) resize the pics tomorrow..promise

or else:gunsfirin

I've got a patent pending also. I expect to get the patent awarded sometime four or five years from now. They're that far behind at the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Patents are interesting as a concept. I almost didn't go the patent route and make my idea public domain because of the hassle of getting my last one.

Like zap I'm producing my own right now and hoping that when the patent is issued some big company will want it more than I do. The thought of mail box money sounds thrilling.

The biggest lesson I've learned about patents is all they are is the license to litigate. By that I mean having your idea patented gives you the right to sue anyone that uses it without your permission. You're the only one that can sue to protect your patent and you're the only one that can enforce your patent rights through litigation.

Let's say a company likes my idea. But they don't want to pay me for the rights to produce it. Then it becomes like poker. I threaten to sue. Of course I have to pay for my attorney fees myself. If they're a big company and I don't have the money to pay for the legal help I need then they can get away with producing to their heart and wallet's content.

They can also contest my patent and if it's weak, I lose it.

Zap:

Consider this option.. Sell the rights to Fisher with the agreement that you have sole manufacturing rights for the first 3 years. That way you don't have to worry about marketing or the success of the product in the market place. If patent is infringed upon then it is fisher that litigates. You have three years of work at some level with cash to upgradee your shop to TIG process or whatever else you might need.

we do have a tig machine here...
its a miller...
but we need a footpedal...
and its not hooked up to anything yet...
and getting a new one is gonna take some "trying"
but if we're gonna make'em here I'D just assume to do all the welding myself :D

This thread shows the true meaning of censorship.

Parts of thread have been deleted even though they did not contain any vulgarity or attacks on any individuals. They were deleted becuase one persons opinion was not as valuable as another persons opinion that happended to be friends with the moderator.

I joined the Marines during Vietnam to fight for our country and our way of life which includes being able to voice my opinion without being censored.

I guess we don't live in the US anymore and I have no further use for this site.

I agree, half this thread seems to be missing. I'd kinda like to hear an explanation as to why. Moderators?

As of this moment, I'm not sure what happened to this thread. From what I've read on this thread, none of the posts seemed to be out of line. I'm going to look into the matter to see why the posts were deleted. I'll keep you posted.

Please don't let this discourage you from posting on this site. The purpose of WeldingWeb is to provide a place for members to share opinons and information, regardless of who they are and what their opinions may be.

Neil,
I don't know where your accusation comes from, but I resent it. Since taking over ownership and management of this site a little over 2 months ago, we have bent over backwards to be open, honest and forthright. We let people say what they want to say, and we let community members tell US when somebody has crossed some kind of line.
If you have a serious problem or concern, you are always invited to bring it straight to me, to our moderators or to our full-time staff administrator. We don't make ourselves scarce or mysterious.
But since you've raised this question in public, let's deal with it in public. If you are still with us, tell me, please: Exactly WHERE do you see holes that look like pieces of this thread are missing? Exactly WHAT do you think we've done? And WHY?

Okay, I need to apologize to the moderators for wasteing their time. When I read fallons post I went looking back though the thread and didn't see a bunch of posts I remember reading. I then went looking for another thread but either didn't go far enough or somehow missed the one they were in. This was so off the wall I should have known. I'm sorry, I jumped the gun. Smithboy, I thank you for responding to my PM. Now, if you'll excuse me I need to go wash the egg off my face for the second time in a week.

Spud,
I can generally keep a whole flock of hens busy with the egg I regularly remove from my own face. I have to admit that after the initial complaint was posted, I thought the thread had been edited also.

I think it's important to remember that building a good reputation takes time and overcoming past mis-steps takes time also. In the words of every president since John Adams, "I think these events are simply the consequences of transgressions made under the former administration." Whether deserved or undeserved, expectations have been formed. Memories are longer than a few months and expectations are formed by perception and experience. We should all just consider this event "experience," note the positive outcome, have a good laugh, and move on...
