Hypertherm has released their newest technology torches called "Duramax" for upgrading performance on the Powermax1000 and Powermax1250 systems. This new torch is the same technology that is used on the new Powermax65 and 85 systems, and provides numerous benefits in terms of cut speed, cut quality and especially, consumable life. Here is a link to the Hypertherm website with all of the pertinent information:

Are these just hand torches or is there a machine torch?

Both hand and machine torches are available. If you already have a hand torch, and need a machine torch...this is the way to go. You can switch back to the older style torch in seconds when a hand torch is needed.

Doesn't the ramp start on the 65/85 add to the consumable life also?

The 1000 and 1250 also have ramping, however the newer 65 and 85 are optimized. There are quite a few more benefits with the new systems, however the torch upgrades for the 1000/1250 are a great performance boost. You can see the consumable life comparisons on the link I posted....it compres consumable life with the old torch vs the new torch, as used on either a 1000 or a 1250.

Will I use the same cut charts that came with the 1250 (amp/speed settings) with the new torch too? or are there a new set of charts for the new torch?
Thanks Jim. I'm saving this as a reminder for when I finaly manage to get the funds for a CNC table for my 1000.

I don't see any cut charts for the new torch yet. Are they available? or do we use the 1250's older cut charts?
