I just finished placing the order for the Hypertherm Powermax 45 unit.
I did a lot of research before buying...since late last year. I was somewhat undecided between the 45 and 65 because of my limited experience with modern plasma.I contacted Jim Colt of Hypertherm for his advice. He emailed me promptly with a well detailed explanation of his recommendation.
Now I was fully expecting that he would recommend the 65. It is a higher priced machine and I would assume a little higher profit. But he recommended for my uses the 45 and explained why. He also owns one the 45 units so could speak from real experience...not sales memos sent down from the marketing department.
Besides the features and capabilities,,,they are rated as one of the best....the thing that ultimately sold me was the customer service. Having Jim respond to my inquiries and seeing his posts on numerous boards offering very well written advice highlights their dedication. I have read numerous posts by users telling of the units durability and performance in the real world.
I looked into buying the unit at the LWS I deal with. But by the time we got done with filling the governor's wallet with taxes we were $200.00 outside internet price, shipped to my door. The guys at the LWS are a good bunch but we were a little to tilted on price this time...I'm sure I'll make it up to the in the future. Thank you to Specter from this board for posting the link to WelerSource.com. They were best price with free shipping.
Now we got the wait for the big brown truck to pull in the drive.
