Friends,

I need to ask a small favor. To help in our business, we need to learn more about the people who use WeldingWeb.com -- guests and registered members alike.

I'm asking you to take a short demographic survey; in exchange you'll be entered to win one of four $25 Amazon.com gift certificates.

The survey is just 9 questions and should take about 5 minutes to complete. It's completely anonymous, and information will be reported only in aggregate. The information will be used to help us bring in the right business partners to support the community (OK, speaking plainly: advertisers).

We ask for your e-mail address at the beginning of the survey; this is ONLY needed so we can contact you if you've won a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate. It will not be used for any other purpose.

Where is the survey?

The link was there, but on some browsers doesn't show as a link. It will change color when you pass over it with your cursor. I've now underlined it. It's the line that says "Take the WeldingWeb Demographic Survey"

I scheduled myself 5 minutes to take the survey and now I'm done and still have four minutes left!!! Maybe I can take a quick nap!

All,
We're closing out the survey sometime in the next 24 hours. I want to thank everyone who participated. We have more than 400 completed surveys, which is a tremendous response.

Our drawing for the 4 Amazon.com gift certificates will take place on or before Friday. Winners will be notified by e-mail. We won't be able to announce them here, because the survey -- meant to be anonymous -- was built so we can't match screen names with e-mail addresses. Further, not everyone who took the survey is a registered member.

Finally, I promised that we'll post results of the survey. That will take a couple weeks, so we can get it all formatted nice and pretty. When we post it, I hope you'll take a look. It will tell all of us a little bit more about, well, all of us.

just a quick question Bob on some of the sites with things likes this its only for the US
being as we have members from all over the world are most of these open to all of us ?
meaning if you have one were the prize is say like a welder I would pay shipping ;) i always enter them anyhow its part of being a member and supporting the site

Thanks for asking. We honestly hadn't considered it. Obviously, with gift certificates (as are being offered for the survey), there is no problem. And our last promotion -- welding helmets -- also wouldn't be a problem. It might be a different story if/when we start giving away the really big stuff.

Let's just say that we'll handle that on a case-by-case basis. But we'll start being specific with each contest -- if it's for US only, we'll say so.
