PM notification

I may have missed this somewhere in the settings, but is there anything that can be done differently to show alerts of new PMs? I've got the little box in the top right corner that says "Welcome" & that is where it will show if I have any unread PMs. But I just noticed I had an unread PM that's been there almost a week & I didn't realize it even after being on here several times since then. No big deal, but it took a long time for the person I sent this PM to, to respond & I suspect it was for the same reason, not knowing he had a PM.

Suggestion; Is there a more eye catching signal that could be put on the page after you've signed in that lets you know you have a PM? I'm a member of other forums & most will have a flashing envelope icon or something & you know as soon as you sign in that you have a PM without having to look for it. Honestly the notification here isn't hard to find, it just doesnt stand out & say HEY YOU HAVE A PM! READ ME! :D

in your profile you can set it to notify you by email when you get a new PM. I had the same problem when I first joined. The email notification did the trick...now, I look, but it took a while to remember.
