howdy guys,

I've got an old Weldanpower-225 in my yard-truck. Love the thing, but the starter's gone bad. Permanent magnet came apart and trashed the armature too.

I think this is a Briggs 16hp "cast iron industrial"....but the decal is kinda worn...

The 'small engine' guys around here are insane....want 100 bucks for a POS plastic starter.

Anyone got one laying around that's still in good shape?

thanks!

Look on Epay. Lots of small starters there. There is even a rebuilder that has some once in awhile.

If you are griping about 100 bucks, never get an Onan.......$250+ depending on model.

Sorry, but I do think $100 is outrageous for a used plastic starter.

I get a complete rebuild on MT-42 Delco for my Detroit Diesel for 87 bucks; and that starter weighs around 70 lbs.

Maybe 100 bucks for a NEW one....but for something that someone pulled off an old junk lawnmower engine....sheeshh...

Besides....I hate ePay....

anyway, thanks for the reply DDA.

New is always better. Rebuilds are usually 75% of the cost of a new one anyway.

You can't compare the big ones to the tiny ones. Different worlds altogether. The tiny tools used are obviously more expensive to use.    :p

hee hee.....that does seem to be the case.

Want a handy 20,000 lb D4 Cat ? 20 grand

Want a mighty 80,000 lb D9 Cat? 8 grand.

Could be 'cause it costs a thousand bucks every time ya need it moved... <grin>
