Just bought a Powermax 1000 G3 for $500!:cool2: The tip is shot but for that money I don't mind buying some consumables. It has a $85 add on air filter and is mounted on a tool cart. I think I'll ditch the cart because it is larger than needed. It has relativily low hours on it (probably 100 or so) and was used by just one guy.

Nice score man!! I just got a PM 45 last week, and these hypertherms are the way to go. Have fun with yours, got any projects in mind? :)

No projects yet. I need to get the plug wired in and make up a wheel kit for it. I don't really need this big of one at home but couldn't pass up the deal.

Can we nominate raptor for the "you suck award".
Mine was a whole lot more but I bought mine new. Absolutely love it. Sometimes wish I hadn't traded off the little 380 to get it though.

Raptor all you need now is a 4X4 Torchmate or Plasmacam and you are in bidness. Thats what I started with and barring current issues the longest I have ever gone between cut sessions was about 2 weeks. I consistenly slice and dice 1/3 in thick material and occasionally get even thicker if it is a simple design that I can start the cuts on the edges of the plate, If you are considering a CNC table make sure you eliminate the issue of torch height controller and hitting the torch hard enough to move it and upset the actual cutting performance. Good luck and make sure tou get together with Jim Colt too, since he is the real deal hypertherm guy. He knows his stuff,

I would love the plasma table but it isn't in the cards atm. I live too far away from a population base to make it feasible at least till the economy turns around.

Thats a great deal on a Powermax1000. Your money is much better spent on a good quality used plasma system like this as compared to buying a new import. The Powermax1000 will provide superior power, longer consumable life and faster cuts than most 80 amp imports. Parts and tech support will be available for this unit for many years. There are a lot of good used Hypertherm's out in the field...keep your eyes open for deals like this!
