Hey guys,

I have been playing around with a welder for two years or so now with some success. While I have been able to complete some projects I would like to improve my understanding and hopefully my technique or skill or whatever you call it. I have never received any type of instruction in welding but I seem to be getting a bit better with practice.

This is what I am working with, a Lincoln Electric Pro-Core 100.

I am wondering about possibly adding the K610-1 MIG Conversion Kit and Aluminum Kit to this for some work on manifolds and such. I don't know if it would be worth the money to upgrade this or maybe just purchase a larger welder model?

Some pieces I have welded:

Hi and thanks for the welcome. I am a complete noob when it comes to welding but i like the possibilities and want to get better at it.

See I was just tack welding the Vband to the flex pipe and I noticed one of them cracked. I think I might have stressed it before it cooled or something. Is there any reason in particular this one might have cracked?

Oh, okay so just looked at the flange info and it is T409 is stainless steel. I had tried to buy one with mild steel flanges but this is what I could find.

Do you think this little machine would be decent with the gas kit?

my oppion NO
tig would be the ticket or a better higher amp mig
yours says PRO core 100 so guessing that is made for F/C wire
and limited to 100 amps [say 90 myb
for 1/8 max steel F/C welders work good
auto stuff and thigns on road heavy use you know the routine that goes
LOT OF THREADS on this topic small wedlers
