View Full Version : working with extruded objects in autodesk inventor question

im drawling a table, I made boxes for the legs then extrusion down from the boxes, but now i can select the bottom of the legs, to work off them..... see video


dont know how but the sound and picture is off in the video

Its hard for me to see in the video what is going on, but if you can send me the file and tell me what you are trying to do I can take a look at it.

Its not letting you start a new sketch on the face of the table leg?

the stupid thing wont let me modify it at all now, it says: its not checked out by you so edit is not allowed, but anyways heres a copy of the file..... i had to place it in zip file because .ipt files are not allowed here.

thanks for the help :) yes im trying to make cross beams for the legs but it wont let me do it.

thanks guys but i threw in the towel in inventor, i got it done in sketchUp.......

Can't open your file after I extract it. Says "error in reading RSe stream". I'm using Inventor 2011. What version was this done in?

Don't throw in the towel so soon. You will be glad you spent the extra time learning a 3D solid modeling program in the long run. Even Sketch Up Pro won't match all the functionality you can have in Inventor or SolidWorks. Try using the frame generator in Inventor, it will work well for most projects involving standard shapes. Just make your line drawing in a part file and then dump it into an assembly. Once there, you can simply click on the lines and designate a shape you would like from the library. You can do all your end treatments in there and even generate a nice cut list with everything, including all miters. Try it, it rules. It will save you a **** load of time in the long run.
