I guy just posted on craigs list here, at sheet of steel 4ftx8ftx 1/4 for a hundred bucks. is that a good price...
also whats the difference in different types of steel, ive seen stuff like cold rolled, and hot rolled and some have number references, what does that all mean? what should i buy?

hot rolled comes out of the "mill" hot and goes right into rollers and rolled into plate(or formed into other shapes)hot..when it cools it changes a bit and has mill scale on the surface.. cold rolled is formed cold, but that takes bigger machines ..it is more expensive and more dimensionally accurate..almost zero scale..
depends on what you're doing..if i cant find scrap i get hr..

number references are generally the type of steel (QT100, 400F, AR, etc) Steel types can also have spraybomb color ID codes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's around $.30 per pound? That's a very good price. I'm paying anywhere from $.40-.60 per pound at the local steel recycle/usables yard.
