Has anyone had problems with their Jackson helmet?

My NexGen goes dark on the left side while the right stay light during welding!
It's being a real pain in the eye.

is it under warranty? if not i would take it back to where you got it, and POLITELY raise a stink about the failure of such an expensive lens.

to answer your question, i have a jackson auto hood, and havent had any problems with the lens, however i dont get to use it as much as id like.

My helmet has around 40 hrs on it. I purchased the helmet in Colorado and now live in West Virginia. I've had it about 3 years so I think it is out of warranty.

The company I work for has about 25 Jackson NexGens (at our plant). We've had them for about 1 1/2 years and about five of them have been sent back for warranty work. We have two out right now and one of them (mine actually) for the exact problem you stated. Half the lens worked fine and the other half didn't. The other one would not stay on, even with new batteries.

With all that said, it's still my favorite hood. Keep in mind that we use these hoods for production welding so they get about 5-6 hours a day of welding.

Jackson replied to my E-Mail. They advised me to call them. After talking with them for a very short time they said they would have a new lens sent out as quick as possable.

I call that standing behind their product!

That's great. I love to hear stories about companies standing behind their products, makes me all warm & fuzzy inside.

Ironheart I have a Jackson nexgen and have had problems with it. I was welding once and when i would strike the arc the the cartridge would hesitate to go dark i would see like a pink light. I'm sure it was burning my eyes. So they warrantied it for me and now the brand new does it one and a while. If this one completely craps out on me I will get a Miller a guy in my glass has one and has had no problems with it or even a speedglass i heard is very good. I bought a permanant lense for my nexgen helmet so when the cartridge does crap out on me i can still weld with the other lense. I deffinitly don't recommend anyone to get a Jackson nexgen. A girl in my class she has a Jackson EQC I think it is and I believe she has had no problems with hers. I say warranty it and get a backup permanent lense for a couple of dollars.
