HF is opening a store in Saddlebrook, just about 10 minutes from where I live.
I usually hit HF about once a month for a day out, the nearest on is about a two hour trip from my house. Now when the new HF opens, it will be like dangling candy in front of an infant!
Anybody know of any HF Anonamous meetings out there? :jester:

1. If your married the fix is easy. Put your atm and credit card, along with the checkbook and any cash in a safe deposit box.
2. Give your wife the key.
3. Pray wife doesn't lose that key!
Simple.

I got a HF less than 2 minutes (drive) from my house, I go in there from time to time but usually end up walking out empty handed, I did buy huge pair of "Channel Lock" style pliers there that I am quite happy with, and a few air tools like 90 degree die grinders, I can buy 3 or 4 of them for the price of 1 I.R. die grinder and they hold up pretty good seeing I use them on a daily basis. My co worker bought a pair of 6" calipers from them, He ran them thru our company calibration program and they failed, he took them back and they gave him another pair that passed cal, and have passed every year for the last 4 years, they were like $20 calipers

I have Northern Hydraulics, Tractor Supply Co., and Harbour Freight all within 45 minutes of the house. Sometimes I visit all three the same day! I can resist anything but temptation.

In that situation, my rationale would be "I'm single, I better build up my tool supply while I can afford it and my money isn't going towards window treatments!"
Seriously I bought my lathe and mill while the wife and I were both working and making a decent income - figure I better get them in before something happens and money gets tighter. I say do exactly what you want while you have the freedom, never know when your priorities might suddenly change.
Now go put 6 angle grinders on your credit card. :)

I don't know what Harbour Freight is, but I've got an enormous hardware store near me. And when I say enormous, I mean close to a football ground in size. You could basically build and finish a house (including the garden) from the materials and tools in the place. In the tools and machinery department, they have everything from the name brands to the cheap Chinese ones.
Recently, they started staying open till 9pm on weeknights. Sad as it sounds, I have often found myself there on a Friday night. Usually it's just me, a half a dozen other losers, and dozens of staff getting the shelves stocked for the weekend.

We all know you meant "have a dozen other fortunate souls who prefer stimulating their minds with construction projects to watching 'survivor' , 'dancing with the stars', and other drivel on TV "

I have a local HF store nearby as well. I haven't ordered much online since they opened up although the selection online is better than what they carry in stores. It is surprising, however, how many items they do offer in the stores.
One thing to keep in mind is that you can frequently find a sale price online that isn't reflected in the price you would pay at the storefront. However, the store policy (at least at my local store) is that they will match online pricing if you have proof in the form of a printed online sale price from the HF website. As long as the item number online matches what they have in the store, they'll match it. They do not have the capability to check the online prices at the local stores so you have to have something printed. If I am looking for a particular item, I'll check online first and if it is on sale, I always print a copy of the sale price to take to the store, just in case.
They will also accept the 15% off any single item coupons that come in the mail or via email. They will apply these on top of the mached online sale prices - doesn't get any better than that.
As others have mentioned elsewhere in this forum, some of the HF stuff is of questionable quality. Sometimes it helps if you can actually lay hands on the item prior to purchasing it.
The other nice thing is that you have a local store for returns when necessary. A lot of their hand tools carry a lifetime warranty. They are very good about providing replacements for broken hand tools, even without a receipt as long as it is obvious that it is indeed one of their lifetime warranty tools. I had an impact socket set in which one size of the set was constantly splitting due to a bad design. Each time I took it back, they replaced the whole set. After that happened a couple times, I asked them if they would just replace the faulty socket with one of better quality which they were happy to do.
