Anyone have 4 or 5 rods of 1/8 55% Nickel TIG rod they can part with? My local shops can only get 10 pounds at a time. This is way more than I need and way too much money. I would be glad to spend a few bucks for the rod and shipping. Let me know what you have, any high content nickel rod would work.

Thanks for the help,
Mike

Hi,
If you still need the 55 nickel rod why not contact Eutectic/MG Welding in Wisc. and ask for a few sample pieces? There is also Cronation/Certanium 89T available in 1/8th under P/N P14180 in three lb. lots. You may be able to persuade them to send you samples as well. Tech line # 800-843-0763. One last suggestion, when I'm in your situation I simply take some # 55Ni, SMAW rod knock the flux off it and proceed, however the 55Ni,is a bit difficult to machine with conventional tooling so when possible I'll use 99Ni that will machine just fine. I hope this reaches you in time to help.

Thanks for the advise. I had not thought of asking for a sample. I'll give that a try.

I have a several sealed 10 pound tubes of Monel 60N 1/8 wire. This wire is 60-70% nickel and 30% copper I think. I have been getting $80 a tube on eBay. I would consider breaking a tube. E-mail me at gold4@comcast.net for more information. Thanks, Joe
