Did a little 'commercial' welding activity recently which funded some new aquisitions- the biggie was this helmet.
The helmet is outstanding. The headgear system-'****'. The optics same thing and speaking of the optics. The setting range is great, I used it for plasma cutting on top of welding settings. Again, this item IS everything the owners have said about it.
We will see how it holds up over the long run, but if you have extra $$ burning a hole in your pocket-uvex has done their homework with this baby:cool:

Hey Px, at least we agree on something! :D
I went rounds with Hobart/Miller for months before finally selling the hood to to buy a Satellite. Some of the best money I ever spent. Glad you like it. I know your opinion carries some weight, and it is an excellent product.

Aaron, having differing opinions, is fun, but in this case I had a sneaking suspicion that yourself and the few others that chose this helmet over the speedglas/nexgen ones made the best choice.
I checked out the speedglas-but found its headgear harness system run-of-the-mill and for $300 bones I expect more. Did not bother with the Nexgen, because it looked to share the same shell as the Jackson I already have and that one gives my eartips sunburn-gotta wide head i guess;)
The, viewing window is smaller, much smaller than my Arc-one helmet, but because I can move the helmet closer to my face- the 'actual' viewing area is superb. Also the damn thing darkens way faster than my old arc-one unit. Now I'm no scientist so no extreme measuring systems, but trust me you can tell.
The way the helmet is shaped underneath the chin area is great, can swivel my head around much better than before, with my other helmets, sometimes trying to follow my weld/joint, the helmet would contact my upper chest/shoulder area and upset its position-causing me to screw up my welds via visual hinderances.
The much cheaper Galaxy non-darkening model is a very good economical alternative w/ the same oustanding headgear/shell system as the more expensive Satellite.
Still its only $$ and $$ is worth less everyday:D
