Many WeldingWeb members have suggested adding a new Manufacturer Product Forum for all manufacturers other than Harbor Freight, Hobart, Lincoln, and Miller. So here it is. Please mention the name of the manufacturer in the title of a new thread. It will simplify searches for threads about specific manufacturers.

Thank you--
A good idea, as I am relatively new and always looking for experiences and opinions about other machines and tools.

I can't believe Harbor Junk gets its own forum, where as Thermal Arc gets dumped in with last nights left-overs.

It's all about the volume of threads. Honestly, I think it's like picking pimples with some of you guys; the only reason you shop at HF is because it hurts so much. And then you like to talk about it.:)

Some of us will NEVER shop at a HF or anything similar, we understand that if you can't afford A GOOD TOOL then you need to keep saving until you can. As kids we all buy junk to get whatever we need done because money is always short. Somewhere between being a kid and an adult aren't we supposed to learn about VALUE ? Good enough for now ain't good enough.
Buy it once...buy it for life !! It's actually saving money over the course of a persons life when you don't have to replace your old JUNK.

I don't know about that blanket statement.
For example, the 3/4 drive sockets at HF seem good enough. Do we really need 'em chromed and polished?
Remember the fat and happy local tool seller. He would slap a big 3/4 or 1" drive socket on the counter - "200 bucks, that's it. Do ya want it or don't ya?".
I for one sure appreciate the competition HF and others have brought to the tool market.

Yea, I remember that fat *******, he went out of business when his old customers retired or died. Seems we wouldn't support him since he wouldn't treat us like he did all his old buddies...what comes around goes around.
There is something to be said about your competition statement though. In a lot of cases it has helped prices but in others it's cheapened the manufacture of the good stuff to try to compete. Gives and takes I guess. Good point though !

Just bought a ThermalArc 185 for my home garage. Should be here this week. I'll post something here about it after I get it hooked up and running.

A few have suggested some specific forums in messages within this thread. We add such forums under 1 of 2 conditions:
Either a company pays us to start such a forum in its name;
A high frequency of posts about a specific manufacturer within the "Other Manufacturers" forum indicates the need for such a forum.
Our default position on this is to wait a little too long to add a forum rather than to jump in a little bit early; experience has taught us it's better to risk overcrowding in fewer forums than to have too many forums that are underutilized.

So, find an ESAB rep that will stop here and I will do it.
I may be stepping over my boundaries, but what the heck. Hypertherm is working out.

I sent ESAB a note. If they will be here, I will make it a sticky. If they want to pay, I think it will become a forum.
Its up to you folks to keep the traffic up.
David :)
