Hi
I am making a turbo cowl for my built in barbecue. Does anyone know what the angle of the "fins" should be for maximum efficiency of smoke extraction?

My guess is 45 degrees. I modeled it using 1" high fins at 45 degrees. I was originally thinking it might have been around 60 degrees but that was too flat. Compare the two photos... it might be 50 but not likely much more.

Thanks for the trouble, that looks about right. What program did you use to draw the cowl? Perhaps I should try find an outlet in town that stocks them and measure it while I am there. These things are generally custom made here in SA, so its not easy to find anyone who has one on display.

Not a problem, it only took a minute. I am currently using Alibre Design. Post some pictures of your project when you get going on it. ;)
