Just put in the order for a new HTP2400. By next weekend I'll' be in welding heaven.:cool2: My version of it anyway.
Anyone out there used this model. Any pointers on setup or use would be great.

I have an HTP 200 mig. I am guessing that yours is the 240 amp mig. I love mine. I have had it for a long time and I have never had any problems. On mine I have coarse and fine "heat" so I set that to get full penetration on the same size scrap. Then on a scrap piece I adjust the wire speed until I get a smooth zzzzzzzzzz If you are too slow it will sputter and snap and it will sputter and snap when it is too fast also and the wire will also push the mig gun back at you. Do not change heat while welding (let go of trigger then adjust) ok to change wire speed. When you weld it will start off cold and as the metal heats up you get a little more penetratiion (just something to be aware of). If doing sheet metal. (I do alot of 18ga for cars cut to exact size of hole and line up perfectly flat, spot, go to other side spot, until 1" apart all flat then go inbetween 1/2 inch apart and so on. If you try to weld continuous it sinks and distorts. If your weld is sitting real proud you are cold, if you are blowing holes you are too hot. If you forget to turn your argon/co2 on you get chicken s**t. Set wire tension per manual. If you wire rusts it won't weld worth a damm. I buy my wire locally. I run alot of .024" :blob1:
Oh yeah, after a little while you will know waht to set it on.

Spent the week with my new welder. This unit rocks. The build quality is very good lots of tweekable options. It has a slow meduim and normal start. You set the wire speed and flip the switch to slow and it starts the wire feed slower to alow the metal to heat up then speeds up to your setting. Way cool for thick metal. I was finishing the receiver on the bumper for my jeep which is 1/4 inch. I had tacked it in place with my HH140 turned all the way up and it was enough to hold it but thats all. The htp to finish welding it. Wow, just melts 1/4 inch like its sheet metal. I've never had this much power before.
All in all I think this welder will do great for me. I build cars and I won't be afraid the frame will come apart if it's put together with this monster. As well as it goes down to 20amps so even the thinest sheet will be well taken care of.
That all said, I can't wait to get a tig machine:D
Oh yeah, is it me or does lincoln wire suck? I had no problems until I got a new roll of lincoln wire. Is it wrapped poorly, crap metal, what. You can't seem to set it up well. You dial everything in and it goes buzzzzz slap pop buzzzzzzzzzz pop buzzz. No consistency. I don't seem to have this issue with other wires.
Well that my review
I would definitely buy htp products again as well as recommend them.

I can heartily recommend the Invertig201 from HTP as I've been using mine extensively and think it's great.
Congrats on the new toy !
