View Full Version : How to deal with fumes in a home shop?

I'm currently using a Millermatic 180 and Spectrum 375 in my "home shop", which is an insulated garage with a gas space heater. I can leave the garage door slightly open and just let the heat run, but I'd rather have something designed to vent out the fumes.
Any suggestions would be great.

Yea I have used one of these before. The work great especially if your doing any arc welding or anything like that.

I built a fume extractor for free from parts I gathered at the dump and vented it out my basement window. My wife was getting tired of the smoke alarms going off so I had to come up with something.

Lets see, a squirrel cage fan unit, some hoses, a little sheet metal
Heres a site for some fans..

Exactly. A squrrel cage blower from an old furnace. 3 speeds, you can rig it with either a switch, timer, or t-stat.
