Well I'm going to order a plasma in the next week or two and I've pretty much decided on the 65 for the latest tech and higher duty cycle. I'm almost positive the 45 will do everything that I'm going to need to do though. So what would you all do if either one will do, get the best I can or save the money and get the 45? Anyway thanks in advance for any comments.

Get the biggest machine you can afford. The reasoning behind this is if you are up to the max on a smaller machine you will have durability issues sooner. You also may find that going the minimum route might limit your cut speeds too much and if you even slightly underestimated your max thickness your in a pickle. You can always turn down the volume if not needed, but cant use volume you didnt buy. I have a PM 1000-G3 with machine torch on my plasma table and it works great on 1/2 in plate. I can go thicker anytime I want too, Just my .02 FWIW.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah that way of thinking is why I have pretty much decided on the 65 I was just thinking somebody might have a good reason for me to save $800 bucks

Both the Powermax45 and the 65 are great choices....the 65 is a bit over a year in production, the 45 is about 3 years in production...so expect the 65 to have more improvements in technology, performance and reliability.
Other than the additional power of the 65, which buys you pierce capacity, cut speed and cut thickness.....the 65 has the new Duramax torch which can use the FineCut consumables for improved quality on materials thinner than 1/8". This torch also has less internal moving parts....which we fully expect to show improvement in torch reliability as these systems get older. Digital display with diagnostics, auto air pressure, higher duty cycle, trigger lock, quick disconnect work ground and torch assemblies are a few additional features of the 65/85 plasma's.
Thanks for considering the Hypertherm's....we won't disappoint you!

About forty years ago I was agonizing about a choice of whether to buy a Miller 330ABP or a Dial arc 200. Well, I bought the 330ABP and a friend of mine bought the Dial arc. I ended up doing some aluminum jobs for him because they were a little more than his machine could handle without helium. I agree with RBECKETT. I will say that I have the 45 and love it.

Ok I'm gonna go with the 65. Best price I've found is 2325 with a disposable motor guard Filter and some gloves has anybody seen one cheaper with a hand torch?

Well I'm probably going to order it sometime between tmro and Monday. I have a basic water separator/filter/regulator on my compressor then I'm going to get a motorguard for the plasma is a m30 sufficient? I've read some people using the m60 but everything uses the 1/4 fittings similar to the m30 anyway so is there any advantage to using the m60? If anyone needs to know I'm running a speedaire 2 stage 5 hp 80 gallon made in USA compressor.

Not sure if anybody is still reading this and I'll probably just open a new thread when I get it. Harris welding got in contact with me today and because it didn't ship yesterday they upgraded me to a 50ft torch model for free and it is shipping today! I'm pretty impressed with that service they could have got away with not doing anything with only a one day delay and I may have only been a little annoyed over it but that seems like a hell of a upgrade for the little amount of extra time.

Thanks Lanse! Yeah I was a little upset they didn't ship it yesterday but one extra day for a free upgrade to 50ft leads is tuff to be upset about and it is shipped now and I have the tracking.
