Electrician Advice Needed

I am planning on running two additional circuits in the shop. here is the layout:

13 can lights with 100 watt bulbs
3each 8 foot flouresent over the bench

I assume it would make sense to run 12-2 with 20amp breaker & switches

One 12-2 wire is already running to the switchbox with nothing on it. Could I pigtail this line to both lights or should I run another line from the panel for the flouresent.

I have plenty of outlets so thats already done.

Any help here is appriciated.

my brother said fine use 12-2 and he dose not like using old wire so run a new one for the florescence
