Considering TB302 & ?

Hello all. I've been considering trying to start out doing some side work and was looking at the Trailblazer 302. I am looking at adding the hi-freq. box, as alot of the work will probably be aluminum. My quetion is about the Dynasty series. Is there a particular advantage of this over the HF box. I was actually considering the Dynasty by itself, to run off of my 5500w generator, but I don't think it will supply enough power. What are your thoughts?

Well, I looked at thte dynasty spec sheets. IT looks like you have a chance to run the Dynasty 200, but the dynasty 300 is speced to require 8 to 10 kw which makes it a no-no for your 5.5kw generator.

the TB302 is one nice machine and once you get it you can sell your generator.......

Actually, the generator is in my race trailer for power, so I thought I could plug into one of the 110 outlets. I want to be able to have the machine in the trailer to make a little side cash doing repairs at the track during race season. It would be less of a hassle than mounting a 600lb machine in there. It just looks like the amp draw is a little too much for that gen.

I have done a lot of tig welding with trailblazers, mostly DC on steel and stainless, but some aluminum on AC, as well.
The trailblazer works pretty well, especially with a HF box and a radiator and foot pedal.
Its all plug and play with the new Trailblazers- easy to set up.

It will not weld as nice as a Dynasty, but I think you could do plenty nice welds in aluminum with it.

But its not a cheap way to go- by the time you buy the trailblazer, the HF box, a torch, a foot pedal, and a radiator, you are talking a fair pile of money.

For me, its worth it because most of the time we use the radiator and HF box hooked up to an inverter power supply in the shop.

For you though, it might be cheaper, and give you better quality, if you just replaced your generator with a bigger one, then bought the Dynasty.

Unfortunately, replacing the generator may wind up costing nearly as much as just buying the TB. I really like the idea of the Dynasty for mobility the more I look at it, I just don't know if will put out what I need. I know that there is 1 30A circuit from the gen, but I'm not sure that is enough. Anyone else have any thoughts?
