Anyone know of a source for quality leather welding caps with a cape? I'm tired of getting fire flies down the back of my neck. Thanks!

That's the same question I was thinking to ask a few days ago. Any additional head/face/eye protection would always be beneficial!

I tried locally today and the LWS guys looked at me like I was nuts. I also hit up a seamstress about sewing some and she passed as she didn't know if there was a pattern for caps out there or not. They don't look terribly tough if you stick with the Chinese beany style cap. It's just a band with a top sewn in, and I would add a cape down the back with a slight flare out toward the shoulders. Anyone here sew?

That is a great idea...I used to add a cape onto baseball caps to wear when I was sailing to keep the back of my neck from getting burned. I just used a hankerchief for that, but a piece of leather about that size would work for a welding cap. Why not get some adhesive velcro and velcro the leather to the cap....easier that sewing, no?
