Some of the less expensive helmets don't have the ability to pick up the arc when used on a lower amperage setting with tig. Also if you've ever pulse tig welded with a helmet that doesn't have a sensitivity setting, it can be like trying to weld in a 70's disco with the helmet flashing on and off to the pulse of the arc. I've had good luck with the Jackson, Hornell and Miller brands, it just depends on what you want to do with it, are you going to weld for a living with it or just tinker around in the garage? There are some very decent helmets out there for $125.00 and up. Just make sure you buy one that the clear lenses (in and out) are readily available.

where did you get the 125 dollar helmets at? thanks.
I picked mine up at lowes..Lincoln Electric Auto Dark. $129 They also have an adjustable Auto Dark...goes to #4, or between #9-#13.
