Any voltage sensing feeder would work just fine. I have a Miller Super S-32p and an 8VS that I have run on my 225G and got very good results. The LN-25 is a good one I'm told, but pricey. They seem to hold onto their value when used.

Is there any way to update an old non voltage sensing wire feeder? The only way I can mig with my bobcat at the moment is to use it's generated power to run one of my mig machines. It'll be a lot less work when I only have to load a feeder onto the truck without an extra power source but I can't afford a new feeder at the moment. I suppose I could just leave the contacter hot but I imagine I'd go through a lot of tips.

Not that I know of....but that doesn't mean much. FWIW, I picked up my first one off Epay for 500 bucks.....and my second and it was new.

I'm probably doing something wrong but I'm trying to run my LN 25 with .030fluxcore off my 225G but I can't seem to get in turned down enough to do gauge metal. But from 1/4" up it's welding son-of-a-gun.

I have had an LN-25 for at least 15 years. Works flawlessly off my Ranger 250 and worked great from my G7. As long as you have CV tap, it will be great. I just bought another one yesterday from my dad. I couldn't count the 33 lb reels that have gone through it. I have used this more than any other process. I use .045 wire because it seems to carry a more stable arc. I have had jobs that used 2 33lb spools of wire in a week. They are going for about $600 or $700 on Ebay. Once you have a wire feed you will say screw the stick. 95% of the time I run it with C02.
My dad ran it off his bobcat. A hobart works just as well. Across the arc is an easy way to go.

I've got an LN-25 that runs off my Trailblazer 301G or my dad's Bobcat 225NT equally well. It's the non-contactor model, so it still has the gun always hot, but you get used to it, just like a stinger. Works great in CC or CV.
I also have a very old Millermatic 80A, which is a feeder only, but works off the remote, so it's not for Bobcats. Works exceptionally well in ALL thicknesses but needs CV.
The LN-25 is a standard in the industry. Miller's answer is the recent Extreme 12VS, which has had excellent reviews. I'd get one if I needed another voltage-sensing feeder. It's in the nice Pelican case, but much more weather-resistant than the Passport.

I couldn't get my 225g to go low either. I just stayed up high with it. You won't be able to go below 15 volts anyway. The feeder's contactor will need that much to work. You running it on CV or CC? The CV range on a 225G starts at 17vdc anyway. That is starting to get up there for thin stuff.

I've tried it in both CC & CV,,seems to work best in CV. Voltage when I hook up the voltage sensing leads hangs around 15-19V until I start the arc then it jumps to around 25V. I've read the manual til I damn near have it memorized and I still haven't figured why it won't stay at 15-17V once I pull the trigger. But like I said earlier, with 1/4" & up she's a sweet machine. But I'm trying to do some 11GA in the field. I've got a Miller 12VS that had a bad voltage sensing lead that I'm gonna try today if I get time but I'm thinking it's my Bobcat that won't stay at the lower voltage.

I run an LN-22(straight flux core) off my Trailblazer and it is a great feeder.

handson, it probably is the 225G. I could never get mine to do anything under 3/16 at all. Now, when I got my TB302, one of the first things I tried was 1/8 plate on CV.....very nice short circuit. I even did it with both of my VS feeders, so I at least know they work now. :p
