How I am making a bracket to secure two gas bottles to my wall.
It is a good project for someone looking for welding/fabricating practice. You will do some measuring, cutting, drilling, grinding, jigging & of course welding.
I am just going to post pics as I progress w/some info, if you have any questions post them here and I or someone else can anwser.

Overall view showing magnetic squares holding parts for tack welding.

One side showing how I like to position a part for a 'corner' weld. Instead of mounting vertical piece flush with end I like to come in a skosh.

Another closer shot of corner 'T' gap

More pics to come w/ tip/tricks/etc.;)

Just a word of caution if you're not acquainted with using those magnetic corner fixturing devices. They will blow the arc all over on you, and when MIG welding can drive you nuts. The best procedure is to tack the weldment and get the magnets away from the weld area.
Of course, they are fun to hang on the back of something somebody else has to weld, especially if they don't know the magnet is there.

-My old shop was smaller but warm & quiet + level floor:(
-One of the cheapest ways to get some decent square footage if your not a senator or lawyer and must work for a living.
- I discovered that magnets will melt before I learned about arc blow- but you are right handy as tacking jigs.

PS. I hope everybody is using some version of broadband.;)

Broadband, YUP, I got a whole 38,666 goin tonight here, must be the phone lines are cold cause when she's really whippin I can get a whole 40k.
That tank rack is makin me feel bad about a bent mower blade and a bolt thru the wall. If I was ambitious I'd head out there and weld up a fancy rack. Good thing I ain't an ambitious fellow. Come to think of it, my mower blade's been holding those tanks for 20 years. Rule #1, if it works, don't fix it.

Ha,ha thats a damn good idea about them old lawnmower blades. Too bad they don't do so good against tumbleweeds then I might even own one:D Now people out here Northern Nevada, do have lawns its just I see no point in wasting perfectly good water so my Dog will have something soft to walk on while he's looking for somewhere to poop. Besides I don't have enough time as it is to do fun things like welding- why anybody wants to spend their weekends manicuring a square patch of green is beyond me.

I have got a whole list of stuff to build just to get this 'shop' in order so I can get down with metal proper like

Yes sir, 5" model 9015A. Picked up last weekend at the welding store. If Milwaukee made a 5" model with a pistol grip I would have went for that instead. Seems to be pretty snappy we will see if she can go the distance like my Milwaukee 4.5 incher has.

Xman, for your safety, ya best get that Nevada area greened up right quick.
My dalin is headed to LostWages for a conference on the 29th of this month, and there will be hell to pay if she doesn't see green out the plane window as she is comin in. Her nickname is LawnNazi, has been for the last couple years, and thankfully, she has yet to hear any of the guys call her that, cause I want to LIVE.
Don't say I didn't warn ya!
BTW, your concept of lawns and mine are about the same.
