I have a new 251 that seems to have a feeding issue or something along those lines. When I am welding my arch starts to spit and sputter like the feed is to slow. I adjusted the feed tension on the roller and that did not seem to help. It does it intermittantly. I have the roller tension on 3-4 with the .30 wire wheel. I double checked that everything is ligned up correctly. What else would cause this type of issue, like the feed acting slow while I am welding. Is something slipping or hanging up in the gun, line, machine? Thanks for the help.

The liner is like a bicycle speedometer cable that the mig wire runs down to the handle. They go bad every year or two because they get clogged with crap from the wire or they get kinked from pulling it when it's looped or squished by dropping a tank or something on it. If it welds better when it's stretched out straight you can tell it's the liner. I bought a 251 that had the same problem.

Its pretty easy to pull the liner out to clean and inspect it. I spray some parts cleanear down the tube and blow it out with compressed air. You would be surprised at the stuff that can come out of it.
DO NOT breathe the gasses when you first start to weld.

I would try another different roll/brand of .030 wire.

i would check the role first. i have had the same problem and helped out many others with it. unhook the rool of wire and see if it feeds off smooth, it should want to jump off the role, if its getting caught up due to a bad role it will do just what you discribed. its fast and easy to check, then a new tip, then go to checking the liner if its not the role or the tip. but my guess would be the role is badly wound, the store you got it from should replace it for you, they did for me no problems. they just asked me to pull off about 20 ft and try it again first, then when it continued they changed it out for me and no problems after that.:)
