I saw an ad for 1/16 serated tungston, 5 for 9.99. I pay about two bucks each, so I bought 2 packs. They came today. Grey stripe, sharpened the wrong way on both ends and 2.887" long each. They will be down to 2.5 by the time I sharpen them properly.
Next time they come from the local welding supply

Not sure what you're trying to say? Did you buy some bulk tungsten from HF?

i use some harbor freight tols, but i would never use ANY consumables from there. i tried some 7018's in a pinch, i was about 2 blocks away and it was 7pm. airstar nor Nat Welders are open that late. i bought 2#'s and they sucked. i believe i still have about pound and a half in the shop.

I reground all the tips today and ran one. It worked the same as others. I think I understand it now. They come sharpened on both ends, even though its a crappy job. Once it gets contaminated, just turn it around. When the other end gets contaminated, throw it away. I prefer the 7" ones.

Just recently used and replaced the last HF tungsten from from the $200 HF TIG unit that was returned for a refund after it died. Not impressed with the quality, performance, and cost per inch of their electrodes.
