Hi Gang,

I am starting an aluminum project with my Synchrowave 180. I am doing pretty well with mild steel but when it comes to aluminum, my skills are very inadequate. I have tried various tungsten(pure, zirconia) and the differences are there but it still seems like I have no control of the arc. I have seen the Miller PC-300 pulser and was wondering if the extra settings of this machine will help me out with my AC tig experience. Has anyone used one with good results? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't worry about the PC-300 yet.

Tell us a little more about your project. What type of Alum? How thick? Type of joint? What are your machine setting? Maybe we can diagnose it from this info.

As "sdean" said don't worry about a pulser.
Aluminum is an aquired skill. Learn to make a puddle, and get experience controlling your heat. As soon as your puddle forms start backing off on the peddle. It will come to you . Just pratice, pratice, pratice. Then pratice some more. The less crutches you use when learning the better weldor you will become.
I have an SD180, and use Zirconated tungsten.
