    measuring angles on smaller pipe

    So i am looking for a way to measure angles on smaller pipe,say 1 1/4".they can range from 30 to 130 degrees and they never seem to fit clean and tight.new to doing rails and the chop saw doesnt cut it(no pun intended) she only does a 90 without modifing her.Any help?

    Huh? Not sure what the problem is. Are you trying to cut miters with 1 1/4" pipe for handrails?

    most pipe rails are done with fittings and fishmouths.

    if you are doing new construction,you might try a paper template system link here.

    If you are trying to measure the angle between two existing tubes, place the joint upright and use a digital or lead weight style protractor. Measure the angle of each tube relative to the ground. Then subtract the smaller angle from the larger to accurately measure the angle between the two tubes.

    cut a pocket in a bench and fit your saw down in the hole securely, get rid of the original clamp and you can tack weld angle iron to whatever angle you like and clamp the pipe or tack it......you can do some tricky angles this way.

    Lincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.
