    Millermatic 180

I Just got a millermatic 180 but i was wondering what size portable generator would work. Theres a 7250 Watt Genny and a 6250 watt genny on sale right now. Would those be capable of running my welder?

I run my 180 off 4500 watt continuous, 5000 peak Generator.

I used to run the Millermatic 175 off the Generac 4000XL before I got the Bobcat and Passport. Worked fine.

It has been a few years since my electronics training, but think the formula is:

    Current (I) x Voltage (E) = Power (Watts)

So if your machine needs 240v at 20 amps then power required would be 4800 watts.

    BTW, welcome to the forum!
