Geeze, I think this is the first stick weld I've seen Zap do. Looks just like his TIG welds too.

I was going to keep quiet on this but it seems very odd that you would tig weld the bulk of this and only finish with the stick rod.

Tigging with a footpedal under a truck leaves alot to be desired..
Not to mention having to get in there with a torch..
Running a pedal all cramped with your knees..elbows...Not fun.
I'm getting to old to get all bent up like that anyway..

Stick is easy in this application that's all..

Do I see cracks in the truck frame?

Not that it's your issue, and I am not referring to your work, but does that frame pass Mass DMV inspection?

    Geezzzzz

    I did'nt even notice.
I will give it a close inspection first thing tomorrow..
Maybe it's surface rust I dunno..

If it is indeed a crack..
I will point that out when they come to get it..

    (I'm not playing with it..)

My point was it seems like a phenominal waste of time to tig this up. 7018 would have been more than fine for this entire build.

as far as the work goes it looks exceptional...my only question is why? When I went to a voke school we always did that kind of stuff in house. Do they not have a metal fab shop?

Was that done with MIG? If so, I would like to see some of your technique if you ever capture it on video.... or feel like drawing it up.

Maybe it was a "phenominal waste of time." Then again, maybe Zap's just loggin' some time on the new machine. Just about everything I do is a waste of time and money... but you gotta spend your time and money doing something. Eventually, we all run out of both.

Good lookin' bumper, Zap. That thing ain't comin' apart anytime soon.

Excuse me, I've gotta go waste some time...

Looks like it could be downhill... kinda hard to tell for sure. I sure can't do downhill with 7018. Can't stay ahead of the slag. Maybe Zap stands on his head.

Upon closed inspection it's what is left of a bracket I removed with the torch..
