Looking at the schematics from the hf 94164 dual mig and the hf 06098 131 mig they are the same except the 94164 is supposedly a 220 volt as to the 131 being a 120 volt.Could this be a misprint and the 94164 is a 120 volt welder that replaced the 131?

I would like to have a 131 but are no longer available except off of ebay that is the reason I am curious about these 2 welders.

I've seen prints around but can't remember where. I think it it was one of the HF sites with a pull down that shows the specs and the wiring.

94164 is 220V, not 120V. I have one and just opened to check inside. It has 220V cooling fan. The wire feed motor is a 12V DC. The schematic is identical and has the same CS320 board. Can it run on 120V? Don't know.

    94164-30 amps=100%,55 amps=60%,80 amps=28%,110 amps=15% duty cycle at 220 volt
    06098-25 amps=100%,35 amps=90%,50 amps=45%,75 amps=20% duty cycle at 110 volt
I was just wondering if this would be the 94164 at 110 volt, the same as the 131 06098
    just a thought

No, unless you have this type transformer.

    Re: chicago electric mig 131

Has anyone ever rewired a MIG 131 from 120 volt AC to 240 Volt AC. I have one here without the fan in it so everything else should be the same as the MIG 151 unit as per the schematics I have found for both. In the schematics the only difference I see is the voltage for the fan and the neutral wire for 120 volts. If you put a new 240 volt plug on the131 it should run according to the schematics and if it does have a 120 volt fan just change that to 240 volt or rewire the fan in it for 120 volt after the voltage plug change. Just wondered if it is possible to just wire it for 240 volt AC or will that pop it or send it to Chinese heaven?

I looked at the ones I have here a 131 and a 151 and I do not see any difference in the transformers. Also they do not have a number on them so still in the dark. I tried the 131 shortly on 220 volts and it penetrates and welds fine and nothing got hot or burnt. I could not set it on the highest settings though as the wire will not travel fast enough and gets burnt back to the tip of the gun. They have to be like you said and are different transformers. Just wondered about them as the schematics look identical for the two units. Even most of the parts in them say on them 131 & 151 Dual MIG welders. Diode bride is the same and circuit board for the wire speed. Will try to find out more on the transformers to see if they are available as I would like to make the 131 into a 151 welder as they do a better job.
